Gift Wrapping Paper
Q. What makes Grehom gift wrapping paper special?
A. Our recycled gift wrapping paper is in fact not paper at all, but made from recycled cotton, silk, banana or mulberry fibres and is an eco-friendly but elegant way to finish a gift. Acid-free and bio-degradable, each sheet has been lovingly hand printed using traditional wooden blocks and is available in a range of floral, paisley and patterned designs.
So beautiful and unusual, our paper gets as many comments as the gifts themselves when added to birthday presents or wedding gifts. Thick and luxurious it can also provide added wow factor to handmade gifts and be used in scrapbooking and other crafts. Our gift wrapping paper measures a generous 76cm x 56cm.
Q. How are the designs printed on the gift wrapping paper?
A. Most of our gift wrapping paper is printed using wooden blocks or screens. Skilled craftsmen who have trained for several years carve motifs from patterns we have designed on wooden blocks in mirror-image. The wooden block is then dipped in coloured dye before being ‘stamped’ onto the paper. This process is repeated until the pattern is complete. Each printed sheet of gift wrapping paper is then dried in the sun.
Though a great degree of precision is followed while printing with blocks or screen, some irregularities in the colour or design are inevitable, and are a proof of authentic handwork.
